viva lolita exhibition starts today!

‘Viva Lolita’ presents a range of contemporary artists’ depictions of young teenage girls that capture the mingling of fading innocence with emerging sexuality. Inspired by the title of Vladimir Nabokov’s notorious book, ‘Lolita’ has since been coined as a word, with seemingly widening connotations, for a sexy young teenage girl. Images of sensual and seductively dressed female adolescents have been an increasing phenomenon not only in the world of advertising and media but also in visual art, particularly in the genre of photographic portraiture…

continued on the saatchi blog

aya takano, i previously mentioned here, appears to have been replaced by stu mead - other artists, besides myself, are: charlotte beaudry, heli rekula, koichi enomoto, fafi, feng qianyu, nick ruston, nazif topcuoglu li bo mark karasick, nobuyoshi araki, hellen van meene lei benben, edvarda braanas, jens lucking, andrea massaioli and mat collishaw

the parcel with my two paintings for this show held by uk customs for over two weeks (!) but finally released and arrived in the hands of the gallery in time - they wanted tax of course, i don’t think the parcel opened and the content being questioned - i hope the show goes without too much further incident (is that expecting too much?) - a catalogue has been produced which i’ve yet to see

i won’t be there in person, sorry - i’d love to be a fly on the wall eavesdropping somewhere adjacent to my paintings tho - anyway, this is a rare (first and last???) opportunity for people in england to see my original work (and maybe some other interesting art too) - so don’t miss it! - and please take photos if permitted, i want to see!

‘prophet of rage’ has obligingly uploaded some photos of the exhibition on flickr already - a nice looking gallery! - i guess pink is still trendy in the uk : ) - and looks like a red sold dot next to one of my paintings already??? (my work is too cheap!)

i don’t have confirmation it’s sold yet - and it wasn’t/isn’t so cheap actually (unless they got the price tags mixed up!) - i feel sad and happy either way!

i’m interested in russia - also china - i’m “unknown” in these countries but there are many young fans who discover me by internet - i am difficult to work with tho - usually i always say “no” to galleries etc - i prefer to make my own exhibitions or work with people i already know - maddox arts were an exception because it’s in my home country of england and it’s a “contemporary art” gallery - it was something i wanted to do - maybe one day i’ll come to russia - when i’m hounded out of japan (?) - russia is the last place on earth where “child pornography” is still “legal”!

Sorry, but British people have NO RIGHTS and are not entitled to any — they are British “SUBJECTS,” not “citizens.” Legally, by definition, there is a world of difference between the two terms… :(
