subject: Band possibly stealing Trevor Brown artwork?
Hello Trevor,
As I myself am a designer, and a fan of your work, I thought I would alert you of the possibility of a band using your work without consent. I could be wrong, But I believe that this is your work featured on their shirt. They might have actually gotten your consent to use the image. But I have a feeling that this might be a theft.
Image of possible theft.
A link to their myspace page is below:

Best regards,
-Kevin.
yes - yet again it was a complete waste of time - the promises all lies - yet again they are selling the t-shirts! - i STILL have received nothing! - i’m sick of this!!!
i do not have the time or money to take legal action (especially against “very powerful big shithead entertainment business attorneys”) - this is utterly shit as anyone with eyes can see - i tried getting various authoritative (?) sites like pitchfork behind me but seems they are not interested (no doubt paid to hype this crappy band) - just asked myspace to remove the crystal castles profile as it’s engaged in illegal activity but suspect i’ll be lucky to get more than an auto reply - i need all the help i can get - if you have a blog please expose this bullshit
moronic comments from crystal castles fans will be deleted - don’t bother!

the crystal castles fiasco
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

they played a show here tonight, I tried passing out a few flyers explaining their theft to those standing in line, but I missed the majority of the line up.
if someone could report the illegal t-shirt sales to paypal that would help massively - of course i can’t myself as you need an account to be able to contact them and i am blacklisted - which is all the more reason for paypal to pull the plug on crystal castles
RE: Reporting to GayPal…
As counter-productive as it sounds, hypothetically speaking, it might be more effective in the long-run, if the complainant actually completed a sales transaction of the pirated item in question with the theives, then open a dispute with GayPal, alleging, inter alia, deceptive trade practices, selling of counterfeit goods, piracy, etc.
That way, the complainant would have “standing,” as an actual party to a “legal” contract in which GayPal is directly involved. Just complaining as an outsider/bystander doesn’t give you any legal “standing” unless you are the actual holder of the copyright, an assignee/licensee, agent or legal representative, etc.
I suppose the remedy requested would be a complete refund/charge credit, including shipping charges, citing the above as the basis for said refund… That is to say, “I thought I was buying an official TB Madonna t-shirt, but it turned out to be an illegal, illegitimate knock-off, etc. I WANT MY MONEY BACK NOW!”
Also, be sure to USE YOUR CREDIT CARD, and get the credit card company involved in the dispute by opening a dispute with them as to the legitimacy of the charge when it appears on your next statement, remembering to say that you earnestly attempted to resolve the matter on your own… Most of all — be INSISTENT — never take “no” for an answer!
all talk no action
shoot them

this from “my name is Andy” responsible for re-uploading the tshirt after alice took it down
this is of course the same imbecile who entertained us before with the story about chanel sponsoring crystal castles
and of course the t-shirt uploaded behind the band’s back purely to infuriate me - yes, extremely petty and childish but that’s all that can be expected from these pathetic retards - “andy m” is smug in the knowledge i can do nothing about it
Wow, wow, wow.
1) I just saw some of your art on an LiveJournal icon, so I googled you and ended up here.
2) I love what I’ve seen so far of your work.
3) I also happen to be a fan of Crystal Castles and own that fucking tshirt!! If I’d have known they were stealing that image from you, I wouldn’t have bought it… :o(
4) Now what do I do? I LOVE that tshirt, because I hate Madonna and am also into the kink scene, so it really fits me in a lot of ways. I don’t want to throw it away, but I also don’t want to advertise a band who is stealing your artwork.
Shit.

hah… Martin prepare to be deleted
oops me too! dick..
that sucks, bud. I truly feel sorry for ya. maan, i’m a fan of crystal castles.. or was. man, i’m so bummed out. that’s so lame. fuck dude, i hope you get some sort of reimbursement soon. ya sure deserve it, that design is sick.
which begs the question:
if i’m hated so much why are they using (wearing and “promoting”) my art themselves?
I gave their manager some shit about this and he very politely said that, though unable to discuss it, there’s much more to the events of the last year or two than:
-They used your image from a flyer
-You found out, and asked for appropriate payment
-They declined, somewhat outraged at the (fair) price
-They (or someone assiciated with them) went ahead and used it anyway, what bastards, etc etc
So, is there any more significant info to it than this?
(Just so myself and others don’t feel like foolish fangirls/boys)
slightly different:
- they accepted the fair price, said they’d pay it, but didn’t
- i told them to stop making/selling the t-shirts, they didn’t
i know nothing in regard to other significant info they are trying to imply i’m hiding - unlike all the lies they are dishing out re madonna being their fan etc, i have reported everything faithfully in this blog
any hidden information is being hidden from me! - i don’t even know who their manager is (the idiot “andy m”???) - and their record company have totally ignored me
oh, and with regards to deleted comments here: i don’t want another detrimental tb fans vs cc fans flame war
who are you?? some dude with only three good pieces of art trying to use their success to help sell yourself??
CRYSTAL CASTLES USING YOUR ART WAS THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO YOU, TREVOR BROWN
get a life, you fucking douchebag
sad isn’t it
i rest my case - lies hype bullshit theft pathetic children!
it’s useless - i give up
