okay, that’s what i’m doing – i don’t understand facebook – i can’t seem to find this timeline and “report this profile” button on this profile of someone pretending to be me – the page is unofficial, totally without my consent – my dearest gea (and others?) have added comments on the page stating that it is not “the real trevor brown”, which this person has summarily deleted – and s/he is also posting assorted political crap which of course i do not necessarily support myself – not to mention all my poor little innocent fans all being deluded – help!
It seems that the help page refers to an older version of facebook. The “Report Page” no longer looks like that. I click the little gear icon and there is no option to report that they are pretending to be someone. I did, however, click a few of the other options for good measure. Facebook doesn’t exactly act very quickly on these things though…
Just reported it, i\’ve actually seen this profile before, and i didnt want to \’like\’ the page because i knew it wasn\’t actually you..
Some people create \’fanpages\’ of others, but posting all that random crap on a this site refered to you is not nice.
I hope they delete it soon.

I submitted a copyright infringement on your behalf stating that the person is pretending to be you and is lifting content from your blog and posting it to facebook. It said I will receive an email. Shall forward it to you when it arrives.
if it was made clear it was a fan page and didn’t have the spam i wouldn’t be bothered about it
i don’t have a “real” facebook profile – it’s ironic i had to make a “fake” profile to be able to see this page!
if facebook do nothing i guess someone could report it as child abuse and they’ll suddenly act immediately

yep – if the page actually was run by me facebook would have flicked it off long ago – sod’s law innit?!
Reported it as “spam or scam”. Hopefully enough people will report so it get taken down. This kind of stuff sucks. :/
thanks but i hold approximately zero hope after doing a bit of googling – fake profiles are rampant – despite facebook’s claimed policy of disallowing impostor profiles, it appears they do nothing in regard to actually removing them – …all they’ve done is removed the ability to report them now!
You could start a “Trevor Brown (official)” page and perhaps that would redirect people away from the impostor.
From my understanding (tho I despise facebook but it provides me a good way to keep in touch with friends in other countries, oh well) the more people who report a page the faster it get dealt with.
So basically, just get as many people as possible to report it and maybe facebook will get their act together.
I was wondering how long you were going to let that go. I posted a comment on there before and the person deleted it.

facebook will not remove the page – they will not even discuss that! – despite the page being in direct violation of their policies and terms of use – images can be removed for copyright violation but i must list each one separately matching it with those on my site – too much time and trouble to do – i listed all his/her profile pictures which facebook removed (after 24 hours) but of course the user is simply re-uploading them – useless! – i’ve better things to do…
Facebook *says* that they will delete/ban/block repeat offenders of copyright violations.. I don’t know if I believe them but it seems that if we keep submitting the copyright claims they’ll eventually remove or block him. So annoying though..
