gamekat : never mind the hype

rage

yeah! rage! grrrgrrrr! – asking for it? – another game all the little infants have communally decided to hate on – m3Ans ur 1337 dunnit i suppose? – fuckwits bitching that it’s bad, dull, shallow, sparse, unimpressive, and whatever other equally irrational bollocks etc (so, err okay, what exactly IS breathtaking for you spoilt shits?) – i even read some absurd article by some snotty imbecile explaining to us blind cunts why the graphics are really poor and lack depth! – honestly! – and inordinate blabbing over their $60 (as if they honestly bought it!) whining the game is too short and the ending was the worst ever – if you fucking hated the game as much as you claim you wouldn’t be complaining it was “only 13 hours long”, asswipe! – tough titties you wanted a sandpit and it ain’t – ha! : )

batman arkham city

almost equally lauded and pushed-in-your-face as rage but no petty backlash in this case – instead everyone’s gone to the opposite extreme and unable to find a pedestal high enough for it – personally i hate batman, haha! – but won’t argue that this is not a lovingly crafted, entertaining and polished game, jam-packed with stuff to do – the things i find faulty others love – like the numerous complex button combinations to remember (including errant functions that serve no apparent purpose in the game whatsoever?!) and the combat which does what it wants no matter what buttons you press – i love the cityscape, detailed settings and general eye candy – but then you are deprived of such delights by the annoying necessity of constant switching to crappified detective vision to highlight the interactable things (i’ve seen youtube clips where players keep this mode on almost all the time!) – minor niggles perhaps? – i AM enjoying it – tho at 50% story completion i’ve now swapped back to dark souls for a bit (withdrawal symptoms?)

Thanks for venting for both games m’good sir! I’m doing a Rage review, but only after playing again and get everything. I like it, and like you, know it’s not to everyone’s cup of tea either. It’s still a better swallow than another “here’s a gun, there’s the enemy” scenario…

…and until some brilliant young writer can find a way to somehow resurrect Dr. Phosphorus to menace once again, I’ve been a Batman reader since the 70′s and no more amount of lip-service & praise will endear me to his latest juggernaut cash magnet until next year: Xbox 360 Platinum $20 (or less used)

i know rage has serious technical problems (as usual for bethesda) – esp. for perfectionist pc gamers (skyrim complaints coming next?!) – but my xbox copy played fine – i loved it – besides the visuals it has the best enemy ai of any game? – a fun game for sure

I do agree on the fighting in Batman getting a bit dodgy.
Especially if there are a lot of enemies at the same time I usually end up jumping back and forth between them.

Nevertheless, I love the game. I played arkham asylum and couldn’t wait for the sequel. Now I’ve cleared basically everything there is in the game and thought that I could put it aside and focus on some other games I’ve neglected over the last couple of weeks. Catherine for instance.. But noooooo, all of a sudden I bump into all this talk about easter eggs and secrets that really doesn’t do anything for the game per se, just some stuff hidden at various places giving fanboys like me a little extra bang for the buck.. Damn them all to hell, I thought I could leave this game alone.. I was wrong

Batman’s villains are infinitely more appealing…I’d rather play as them and kick Batman’s face off.

If the question marks were the only thing..
But all hidden stuff like scarecrows lair and stuff like that..
And I bet that Rocksteady did the same thing that they did in Arkham Asylum where they put a secret room where they basically gave you a massive hint on what the next game was gonna be about..

i must say the second half of arkham city lapses into pita tediousness – i’ve given up with joker’s snipers
