had they print a catalogue of the exibition ?
no catalogue – i went today – the best work was by yuji moriguchi – a big round painting of an octopus with a girl on each limb – very beautifull – i’d buy it (i can dream)
Do you know who graces the flyer, tb? I like it.

Thank you
Dear mr Brown, I’m a little swede who must thank you immensly for mentioning this exhibition in your blog (which I check out at least once a week, I’m a fan). I’m right now visiting Tokyo for the very first time, and it was amazing to see the works of some of my favorite contemporary artists “in the flesh”, even if it wasn’t that big of a show. One of my goals while visiting Tokyo was to try to find some Alphonse Inoue lithographs, which I thought would be near to impossible, but lo and behold they had some for sale there! One I bought was part of the exhibition, I almost felt bad for leaving a gaping hole there after they packaged it for me, but only almost.
Now I only need a copy of that Soft Cream LP (80′s J-pop madness) to feel that my shopping here is complete.
And that octopus painting you mentioned was pretty darn awesome! Unfortunately that kind of dough is out of my reach, they didn’t even let me take a picture of it.
related: there’s exhibitions by toshio saeki at span art gallery and daikichi amano at vanilla gallery (both in ginza) starting this week
span may have more alphonse inoue works – altho they jointly staged this code:erotica show so all their prints may have been there
Went to the Span art gallery today, what an amazing selection of books they had there! I spent sooo much money! And they had three copies of Inoues “Belles Filles” book! I’ve been scouring the net for it, and there it was! A copy now resides in my hotel room. The guy at the gallery was really nice also. Again, many, many, many thanks! I would never had known of this place if you hadn’t mentioned it.
yes, the couple who run span are very nice, so “normal” – gallery owners tend to be pushy/aggressive (by necessity?) but they are totally the opposite of that – gives you the happy feeling they are doing it for the love of art and nothing more
