the cute book (aka pie in the sky?)

“alice” is still not even out but i’ve embarked on a new (mini) book project - a series of small, 33cm square, “cute” paintings - maybe 20 illustrations all-told, with accompanying verses - envisaged ultimately as a tiny but chunky four or five inch square children’s “board book” (thick laminated pages with rounded corners) - in my more heady moments i fancy founding a publishing company, “baby art books”, so i can produce this exactly how i want - but, alas, for assorted reasons (paypal being one), that is unlikely to happen - so perhaps the most that can be reasonably expected is a small exhibition somewhere (ie tokyo) and a bunch more jpegs that’ll circulate the net with scant reverence - i’ll pursue the dream regardless…

I’m sure you’ll find a way. You absolutely have to do it, you art is meant for that type format. What about Mr. Gato Negro?…He might be some help.

I love that painting. The words remind me of My Alphabet. I sadly missed out out on the Babies Book. Then Rubber DollNow Alice. Now another book this fast! Cool! Can’t wait. I’m surprised there isn’t an alternative to paypal by now. It seems like Alice is much more widely available as was Little Miss Sticky Kiss. But it is a really great dream to have your own Baby Art Books. Better copyright the name before someone else does. I wish you the best on this venture.

it’s kinda specialist printing - it seems that ALL the printers for these books are in china - tho that’s good news i suppose as chinese printers are (or were) cheap - and it seems 32 pages is a norm …so perhaps 16 illustrations is my goal - i could easily finish before the end of this year…

    edit:
err, nope, in fact these board books aren’t cheap - altho not doing it themselves, my publisher is investigating…

Based on the editions treville website it seems the regular edition of alice hasn’t been shipped out yet and it passed the middle of March. Does this mean the special editions are being shipped out later too? Or are they waiting to publish both in time for your exhibition? Thanks again TB!
