as a warm-up i thought i’d finally play my hoarded and almost forgotten copy of bayonetta – but (inevitably/predictably?) i couldn’t stand it – i detest this smug school ma’am character (f’christsake, stop touching your damn glasses, bitch!) – all the worst traits of the devil may cry character (i never liked) amplified by ten – started skipping all the cutscenes to lessen unnecessary irritation (but also because the story is rubbish) – and then, having little enthusiasm for it any more, i quit entirely a few chapters in

another tb vs the internet rant: i foolishly ordered darksiders 2 from an amazon seller (ie. evil ebay seller in disguise?!) – i assumed “in stock” would mean i’d get it within a few days – kinda shocked after placing my order to see a fishy delivery estimate of 5-9 days (japan to japan) – the item immediately placed on “shipping soon” status so i thought okay, maybe cool – but three impatient “my orders” page checking days later it still hadn’t been shipped, still (NOT) “shipping soon”, ho hum! – ostensibly you cannot cancel a “shipping soon” item (a reason the seller marked it thus) but must send a request – which i did after the frustration of seeing amazon themselves by then had the game in stock – request thankfully granted, “see you again soon” chirps the seller (scammer!) – unlikely! – amazon delivered within 24 hours and without bullshit – ordinarily i’d go out and buy the game, especially as it was already (illegally) available in akiba 3 or 4 days before official release, but i’m confined to the vicinity of my air conditioner during these summer months

in this itchy anxious interim i’d read of further and more serious troubles in store re the game – constant freezing and “broken” everyone saying – disturbing (tho typical) news for a 30-plus hour game – tho exasperated by clods accusing any puzzle they are unable to solve as being a game-breaking glitch, tsk – one common and cruel bone-fide start again bug is right near the end – my copy played flawlessly up till then, so i thought i was lucky, but then of course i hit the bug – xbox crashes at load screen – so, you’re screwed, game over! – all you can do is throw a tantrum like so many others cursing about their time being wasted (pfft, as if playing games was not a waste of time!) – or load a usb-ed back up save you took the precaution of making : ) – knocked me back six hours but half that time to catch up and actually complete this sucker – if it wasn’t such an unacceptable faulty product i’d declare it game of the year or even the greatest game ever – very much zelda/prime/persia/kratos/lara territory – with added scrolls/souls – the best bits stolen of – so i loved it, ultimate tb mollification – tho some dungeon designs can be samey and lacking distinction (not quite as boring as skyrim – always new puzzles, enemies and surprises [glitches!, haha]) – and our, more feeble than fearsome, grim reaper protagonist looks rather silly and sounds sillier (not even remotely like “death” – should have been voice-acted by marilyn manson!) – at least the soundtrack is suitably magnificent – sense of scale is awesome – everything gets increasingly badass (sorry for sad gamer vocabulary!) – hopefully you might be permitted to finish it – [29hrs 24mins 31secs]
