forthcoming from timeless editions, a new compilation book of trevor brown black and white work! - a completely different collection of work to “temple of blasphemy” - it recovers some old artworks dating back to the mid eighties missing from that book because i never had access to them at the time for one reason or another - and then continues up to selections from post temple of blasphemy “mania” books - with assorted odd’n’sods in between - many “rare” and unseen gems and atrocities of varying degrees of embarrassment - and rarest of all, a picture of ME on the fxcking cover!! - this will be an edition of just 500 copies - 112 pages - introduction essay by romain slocombe (a prix goncourt literature award nominee this year!) - price probably 25 euros (plus postage) - expected out before the end of this year - i’ll announce again when pre-orders open

forget what i’ve said before - my “toy box” exhibition now scheduled to be held at span art gallery, 16 to 28 april 2012 - it’s actually the gallery i first thought most appropriate, in terms of size at least, but no one listens to me - hippiecoco, aka mrs brown, may be making some things for it too - eyeball head “dolls” and such? - a sort of collaboration - well, she’s enthusiastic about it at the time of writing here now - but all plans liable to alteration? - oh, i also have one painting in span art gallery’s “girls” group show in, i think, november - more details as’n'when

made some preliminary plans for my next exhibition - this’ll be the “cute” painting series for the wishful-thinking babies board book - altho the book idea inevitably abandoned, i’ve continued doing the paintings regardless - 15 so far, at least 20 planned - the exhibition will most probably be at the auspicious bunkumara in shibuya again - and probably around this time next year - and probably with one or two “supporting artists”, as the gallery is big and my paintings are small - and i’ll probably self-publish the works as a boxed post card set (i doubt more than a few hundred) - a tin box enthusiastically suggested - but of course another artist, who i get accused of copying, has already done that (so maybe i should do it anyway?!) - it’s still a way off - but advance warning for collectors and/or anyone planning a trip to japan (as exceedingly unlikely as that is!)

alice by lostfish! - this is a big 200 page book profusely and beautifully illustrated - and, as a secret admirer of lostfish, i was delighted to be asked to supply a preface for it - short but gushy - hopefully it sounds better translated into french!

okay children, a quick new year briefing/recap re trevor brown things:

i) my latest book trevor brown’s alice and assorted other tb obscurities are available from aka tako

ii) a few years wait till my next opus: “onnanoko sensou” (girl’s war)…

iii) …but i’m also working (similarly slowly) on a collection of small “cute” paintings - originally intended as a self-published babies book but now unsure what form it’ll take - it’ll be unleashed sooner rather than later tho

iv) maybe 2011 will see the release of a trevor brown toy (!!!) - or maybe it wont?! - it’s all kinda shrouded in secrecy - and up in the air right now (despite nearing completion) - as soon as it comes down to land i’ll spill more news

v) virtu gallery released a very splendid giclee of graverobber at christmas - a snip at $250 - buy it while it’s hot and wet - another design now being considered

vi) i have a “contingency blog” here - it’s not a mirror - but you’ll find me there when i’m not here (this site has been having a few database problems in recent months) - bookmark it, “just in case”

vii) i guess that’s all you need to know - happy new year boys and girls

my spread in alamode magazine very pleasing with big full page images, bio, extracts from a translated intervew and half page advertising for my exhibition (yay!) - altho previously a fairly underground magazine, starting this issue they are getting wider distribution in japan i believe - but i don't know how/where to get hold of it elsewhere in the world, i'm sorry t'say - it's a 110 page full colour magazine focused on visual rock and is pretty, um, visual! (a darker version of "gothic & lolita bible"?) - cover price ￥1000
